Our objective is to design a set of dither matrices for the primary colors of
a printer, cyan, magenta, yellow, and black. The design is such that we will use
spatially distributed cyan, magenta, and yellow dots in highlight regions,
avoiding putting down cyan, magenta, and yellow dots at the same location or
using black dots. This will reduce the halftone texture in highlight regions and
improve the sharpness of the rendered halftone images.
The following image shows the result of rendering light gray using super
smooth dither with black dots (top), and using color smooth dither using cyan,
magenta, yellow, and black dots (bottom). The halftone texture is less visible in
the bottom image
