Vayu Experience Platform is a distributed software platform that enables users to dynamically and declaratively specify user interactions for an application. The novel architecture helps to decouple the complexities of various interaction technologies from the application logic. The complete software platform integrates various technologies developed at HP Labs India around gesture recognition, face recognition, lip activity detection, speech recognition, image processing and simplified web interaction technologies (see Fig 3). The architecture also supports future interaction technologies to be easily plugged in for other's use. The software can be used to enable the native applications with rich interactions as well as for new applications that can be developed with the novel interactions paradigms

We have used Service Oriented Architecture extensively to increase loose coupling between various components - enabling different modules of VEP to reside on mobile device, cloud or on VInD. It enables sensor-based events from mobile device to trigger an action on VInD.

Another aspect of Vayu Experience Platform is its easy to use authoring support. It can be seen that while novel interaction technologies are emerging, today there are only a limited number of applications that take advantage of such rich interactions. This is mainly because, such applications can only be developed by technical experts who know how to play with the intricate configuration and other aspects of the API/drivers for such sensors. Vayu Experience Platform breaks this barrier and supports easy and dynamic creation of user experiences. The software platform enables users to dynamically and declaratively specify user interactions by decoupling the complexities of various interaction technologies from the application developer. Many of the Vayu User Experiences such as paper-based interactions and web tasks in the Task Genie can be customized and personalized with minimal effort (without any programming!)
