The HP Proposed XSL-FO
The proposed XSL-FO format is an extension of W3C XSL-FO 1.1 Specifications to add support for non-rectangular shaped regions and complex text run-around.
The definition of the non-rectangular regions is obtained using the W3C SVG 1.1 Specifications. The format support an arbitrary number of regions and relies on z-order for their interactions.
The Toolset
The Anvil toolset is comprised of:
- an Adobe InDesign CS2 plug-in, called Anvil XSL-FO Producer, that can generate the HP Proposed XSL-FO format
- a post-design tool, capable of pre-viewing the document and inspecting the main aspects of the XSL-FO document, like page-masters, page-master-sequences etc... This tool is called Anvil Post Design Suite (PDS)
- a HP Proposed XSL-FO Formatter (based on Apache FOP 0.20.5), distributed with Anvil PDS, that can generate a PDF file.
