Abstract: We consider the noise properties at the output of a differential detector under dispersive channel conditions when MSK is used as the modulation scheme. Using the autocorrelation properties of the noise term and the method of Lagrange multipliers, we present previously unreported bounds for both the noise variance and the complementary autocorrelation function of the noise term. We show that both the noise variance and the complementary autocorrelation function can increase or decrease under particular channel conditions. Based on these findings, we are able to bound the signal-to-noise ratio.
