Abstract: Agatha is an expert system to help technicians test and diagnose failures in Hewlett-Packard's PA-RISC processor boards after their assembly. It focuses on the cachebus slice, the module in Agatha responsible for diagnosing faults in a bus subsystem on the board. The slice uses causal knowledge, and is able to handle multiple and intermittent faults. By separating test specific knowledge from board specific knowledge, it can be easily updated to handle new board types.
