Ferrari, Roberto

HPL-91-132

Keyword(s):

Abstract: Time is one of the most important aspects of real life. Applications in a wide variety of domains (e.g. medicine, economics) need to consider information about evolution of entities of interest, in order to perform properly. Database systems must manage effectively and efficiently information about time as well as the time-variations of entities of the domains they model. The objective of this work is to extend the functionality of an object-oriented database system, Iris, with temporal representation and reasoning capabilities.
