The Relationship Between a MMPP and an MMRP

Abstract: We show that the moment generating function of a Markov modulated rate process (MMRP) is related to the moment generating function of a Markov modulated Poison process (MMPP) through a logarithmic transformation of the argument. Some implications and extensions of this relationship are presented.
