Since 2006 I have been leading the development of
MagCloud.com.
It is currently in private (alpha|beta|pick your Greek letter).
My previous 5-10 years were focused on contextual media systems, though I
dabble in many digital media related projects. The most recent included:
- Virgil, a context-sensitive media
driven browser that likes to mix it up in the emerging Web 2.0 world:
- Halo, an immersive
videoconferencing solution targeted at enterprises:
Biographical information
I studied vision, graphics, and psychology at RPI, MIT, and Stanford (B.A. in
Psychology 1985), and spent two years in the
Vision Group at NASA's Ames Research
Center. I joined HP as a consultant in 1987, and HP Labs in 1988. Since
then I've been involved with the development of HP's first color inkjet
and laser printers, the ColorSmart color rendering system, the
VidJet Pro Video
Print Manager, the FlashPix tiled, multiresolution image format and its
companion Internet Imaging Protocol, and the Cartogra.com (a.k.a. hpphoto.com,
since replaced by Snapfish.com) photo sharing
web site.
I wasted far too much of my youth pounding out miles on my bike; when I was
19 I rode solo across the country (west to east) in 28 days, camping along the
way. I raced for ~10 years with the
Stanford Cycling Team both
as a student and afterwards, with decent results until I upgraded to Cat 2.
My career winnings totaled at least $75. I still enjoy riding in the San
Francisco peninsula area. VidJet Pro manuals
Occasionally I get support requests for info on the VidJet Pro. This
product went to Agilent Technologies when HP spun it off several years ago,
and Agilent then sold their digital video business to another company (Pinnacle,
I believe). However, I do have original manuals and recently had them
scanned and formatted as PDFs for the benefit of past customers:
