Designing and building the world's largest
commercial aircraft - the Airbus A380
Abstract
The Airbus A380 will be the world’s largest commercial aircraft
when it enters into service in the first half of 2006. The A380 is a full length double deck aircraft seating 550
passengers. The
lecture will review the progress of this exciting new product
development as it approaches first flight in early 2005. In particular, the lecture will review the innovation and
technology in the design and manufacture of the wings carried out
within the Airbus facilities in the UK.
Iain Gray, Managing Director, General Manager and Head of the A380
Wing at Airbus, will discuss the challenges behind this important aerospace
engineering project.
