Abstract: This Paper presents a framework in which network operators and technology providors can collaborate. By applying a concept known as the `the 3-loop Model of network management', the University of Geneva and Hewlett-Packard Laboratories have been able to conceive, build and integrate innovative network management solutions which support complete subsets of network management problems. Integration within and between the various solutions is a concern of this collaboration, and an additional model for understanding integration is presented. This approach is the basis for solutions that are being installed on the geographically-distributed, multivendor LAN at the University of Geneva.
