Abstract: In this paper we introduce techniques to bring about efficiencies in Managed Print Services contracts, and describe a mechanism to eliminate the wastage of consumables without compromising on contract Service Level Agreements. The current preferred solution for ensuring printing service continuity is aggressive and early toner replacement. Our solution transforms this model by introducing into the existing device installed base, the capability to automatically set up alternate printing paths and ensure optimal toner utilization. We also present in this paper our experience deploying this solution in at a large enterprise customer, Braskem S.A., in an EDS managed IT environment, and the impressive financial benefits achieved during this customer pilot.
