Keryx was concerned with
technologies that added dynamism to the Internet and WWW, transforming the
WWW from a static repository of documents into an environment that
reflects the dynamics of changing information, interaction, and personal
communication. The core technology was the Keryx Notification Service (KNS).
KNS is a language and platform independent
infrastructure to distribute notifications on the Internet. A notification
is structured information that describes an event. Notification consumers
subscribe to notifications on the basis of their contents.

A Java implementation of client and server components,
including source code, documentation, and demo applets is available on the
Keryxsoft external web server.
Applications include distributed agents, workflow, WWW site management,
personal communication services, and distributed virtual environments.
KNS is a core technology of the LivingSpace
project and also inspired the Tram Tracker
project.
