Bowon Lee received his B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Seoul National University in 2000, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2003 and 2006 respectively. While at UIUC, he created the AVICAR database, a multi-modal speech database of 100 talkers collected in a car environment. After finishing his Ph.D., he joined Hewlett-Packard Laboratories in Palo Alto, California, where he is currently working a research scientist. His research interests include statistical signal processing on audio and speech, microphone array signal processing, acoustic event detection and localization, speech enhancement, noise estimation, multimodal signal processing, and room/musical acoustics. He is a senior member of IEEE and a full member of AES. He grew up in Seoul, South Korea and served for the Republic of Korea Army from 1995 to 1998 and retired as a sergeant.
