Shimin Chen

Biography

I am leading the information and data analytics area in HP Labs China. I received my Ph.D. in Computer Science  from Carnegie Mellon University  in 2005, and my B.E. and M.E. from Tsinghua University in China in 1997 and 1999, respectively. I worked as a researcher and senior researcher at Intel Labs Pittsburgh  and Carnegie Mellon University  before joining HP Labs China in Aug, 2011.

I have worked on (i) exploiting multicore caches, flash, and PCM, in data intensive systems; (ii) exploiting multicore processors to improve software correctness; and (iii) exploiting database and system techniques to provide general-purpose support for context-aware computing. 

Research interests

My research interests include databases, information analytics, computer architecture, operating systems and distributed systems.
