Biography

Paul is a researcher in the Automated Infrastructure Lab, working on dynamic cloud computing services, with a current focus on government cloud services. Since 2001, he has been working in the fields of grid, utility and cloud computing - including the delivery of research demonstrators with application partners in scientific research, life sciences, engineering, and financial services. 

Paul's first job in IT was systems engineer for a part of EDS (now an HP company), prior to joining HP Labs in 1985. Paul has led HP Labs projects, and HPL involvement in European collaborative projects, in diverse software fields including software engineering environments, distributed systems, telecom information networking architecture, continuous availability technologies, Web customer contact centres, and large-scale digital entertainment.

Paul holds an MSc in statistics and a first class honours degree in mathematics from the University of Oxford.

 

Research interests

Technologies enabling cloud computing and Software as a Service, and in particular the new service delivery models and business models enabled by these technologies.
